Alcohol licensing
We all deserve to enjoy town and city centres with a responsible drinking culture and free of anti-social behaviour. Civic Voice is working with the Open All Hours? network of civic societies and residents groups and the Institute of Alcohol Studies to achieve this.
We are campaigning to give local communities a stronger say on alcohol licenses and keep the Government to its promise to “put local communities in the lead”. This means caring as much about the shouting, vomiting and other public nuisance that blights areas as the incidents which are recordable crimes. Local councils need the direct power to refuse or remove alcohol licenses and local communities need more of a say. We are also supporting much wider use of measures which promote better management of town and city centres at night, such as Purple Flag.
