Civic Voice is working together with its partner organisations, Community Development Foundation and Locality to support new, small community groups who are just starting out on their journey into taking community action.
Building upon the Use Your Voice Change Your Community pilot, we are providing support and advice to five community groups within the North West. The difference with these groups though, is that they are not long standing, established civic societies but newly formed groups of people taking their ‘first steps’, but who, similarly, care passionately about where they live and want to take practical actions to make positive changes in their community.
We are working with groups in Moss Side and Old Trafford in Manchester, Runcorn, Ellesmere Port and Rossendale, Lancashire.
Sarah James said, “I’m delighted to be supporting five First Steps areas and helping these communities to develop action plans. These groups have some fantastic ideas of how they want to make a difference locally ranging from, working with the Council and local Housing Association to provide a better care in the home service for older people in Old Trafford to, developing a Well Being High Street and one-stop shop in Ellesmere Port. I can’t wait to get started supporting and guiding my groups along their path towards community action.”
