Main purpose of the job:

The Campaign Coordinator will focus on supporting Civic Voice to involve communities in the commemorations of the First World War and seek to help communities to:

• improve their understanding of their local war memorial heritage;
• contribute to enhancing the national picture of war memorials;
• supporting local people to take steps to protect and improve the condition of their local war memorial(s); and
• organise local events to raise awareness of the First World War

Hours and time commitment to be decided with the different candidates.

Responsible to: Executive Director

Location: Birmingham or Home Based

Budgetary responsibilities: None

Hours: A minimum of 5 hours per week

Purpose of the role
We’re looking for someone to join our First World War Programme Team: You will:

  • To be part of a team of regional coordinators to help coordinate regional activity on this campaign
  • Lead local projects to help us develop a stronger network of communities campaigning for greater protection for the nation’s war memorials. For example leading major events and campaigns to developing new ways to get involved
  • To work directly with grassroots campaigners in specific areas or networks to help them to campaign most effectively on their and our priorities

Main Responsibilities

• Work with the national campaigns team to deliver local strategies
• Research the location of local war memorials and help record on War Memorials Online
• Support a team of volunteers to ensure they survey particular memorials
• Approach local groups and societies to invite them to participate in the commemoration fo the First World War
• Support the national PR team to promote local press releases to the local media
• Where able to, undertake short interviews about the project for social media use
• Organise local events and campaigns that align with national objectives and the spirit of the commemorations
• Organise local meetings to encourage volunteers to get together to discuss the memorials they’ve visited, review progress and talk about the next steps.
