Membership Benefits for Civic Societies

By joining Civic Voice you are part a national civic movement, giving you a national voice. Other benefits also include:

  1. All Party Parliamentary Group -  The APPG for Civic Societies was established to represent the civic society movement in Parliament and help make the movement’s voice heard. Only Civic Voice members will be invited to APPG meetings in 2017-2018.
  2. Civic Update - This is our weekly news update giving you all the latest news and updates on all things "civic"
  3. Insurance with Lockton - Member civic societies are able to benefit from a choice of insurance packages which have been specially designed for civic society activities and can save you on average £100 . Read more here.
  4. National Trust day pass - Members of civic societies who join Civic Voice will be eligible for a free day access pass to the National Trust (worth up to £14). If they are already members this can be given to a friend or relative.   5. Policy development and influence enabling us to speak with a collective national voice
  6. Civic Voice Annual Convention and AGM - The Civic Voice Annual Convention and AGM is the largest single gathering of the civic movement each year.  
  7. Co-Op Bank account - The Co-operative Bank will provide free current account banking services for civic societies that join Civic Voice and pay interest on these accounts. 
  8. Civic Voice Design Awards - The Civic Voice Design Awards are the people’s choice for architecture and the built environment.
  9. Advice on governance issues from the Charity Commission and access to a standard constitution.
  10. National Civic Day - Your chance to be civic alongside 250 other groups across the country on a single day, each year in June. You also have the chance to apply for the Civic Day Awards presented at the Civic Voice Annual Convention.
  11. Helpdesk support - in 2016 over 1500 enquires on a national level to Civic Voice from civic society members
  12. IHBC Funding and Grants as part of the Big Conservation Conversation campaign -
  13. Regional liaision through the Civic Voice Regional Forum (chaired by Helen Kidman, Yorkshire) and via Regional Associations.
  14. Parliamenty outreach meetings - Parliamentary Outreach organise a range of lectures, training sessions, workshops and other events about how Parliament works.
  15. Local networking through the Regional Forum, Larger Society, Smaller Societies and themed interest groups 
  16. Opportunity to contribute to our national manifesto enable us to speak on collective national voice on behalf of the movement
  17. Marsh Civic Awards with the chance to win £1000 to recognise the Outstanding Civic Society in the country - The Marsh Awards are in partnership with Civic Voice and are presented each year at the Civic Voice Annual Convention.
  18. Hard copies of all Civic Voice publications including our Annual Review, Civic Voice Design Awards brochure and leaflets
  19. As part of Civic Voice membership, you are automatically registered with NCVO giving you access to governance, organisational and strategy support. Civic Voice has a partnership with NCVO the largest umbrella body for the voluntary and community sector in England. Every group taking out full membership of Civic Voice benefits from free community membership of NCVO
  20. Opportunity to vote on our campaigns and projects at the Annual General Meeting. In the past our Civic Voice Design Awards, War Memorials and Local Listing have all come directly from Civic Voice members
  21. Speaker panel - Civic Voice can provide national speakers including our Executive Director, Chair and individual Trustees to speak at your events.
  22. Voting rights at the AGM. All Trustees are voted on by our members each year.
