Because of outstanding professional commitments the candidate has specifically asked that no announcement about the appointment is made until mid-June.

On Saturday June 23 – in exactly 50 days - communities across the country will be asked "how proud are you of where you live" as part of national Civic Day (http://www.civicday.org.uk). Civicwatch (http://www.civicvoice.org.uk/campaigns/civic-watch/) is a new survey being launched by the charity Civic Voice. Civicwatch is the civic movement’s annual contribution to discovering how proud we are of our towns, villages and cities. Groups can download the resources they need to take part on the website. Civic Voice believes everyone has the right to live somewhere they can feel proud of. We hope to…

Chancellor George Osborne has today announced that the Government will push forward with its controversial planning reforms next week when the national planning policy framework is published on 27 March. George Osborne made the announcement as he launched a fresh attack on the planning system in his Budget speech. The Chancellor said in his Budget speech it was ‘unacceptable’ that the current planning system had forced businesses to invest in European competitors instead of the UK. ‘Global businesses have diverted specific investments that would have created hundreds of jobs in some of the most deprived communities…
