We have been working on trying to get a set of very old Finger Pointing Directional signs restored for several years. These proved to be a lot more complicated than originally conceived, but working with a specialist restoration company and the the local conservation officer we are very pleased to be able to report that this project is now complete. The weather had badly deteriorated the lettering on these signs and thus needed rebuilding with the same type of materials, these signs were not able to be removed for this work so everything had to be done in situ…

A presentation by Tony Burton of Civic Voice to the Farnborough Society in April was the catalyst for three local civic societies to join forces to hold a series of three seminars for members of the public interested in knowing more about the planning process and how to best engage in the public participation increasingly encouraged by legislation. The seminars were the brainchild of the Yateley Society due to concerns over the need to engage more people in planning policy and development control issues. It was felt that there were citizens who were reluctant to become involved in…

Civic Voice is organising three network events across England to bring together civic societies to have a discussion about "what is the civic movement trying to achieve".

This will go beyond having another discussion about “the planning system” or “finding volunteers” but will be a much deeper a conversation about what the civic movement stands for and its purpose. We are inviting civic societies from across England to join us for one of the following events.
