Commenting on the news that Civic Voice – the national charity for the civic society movement with 75,000 individual members - is to exhibit at Regen 2014, Max Steinberg Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision, said:

“We are delighted to have Civic Voice exhibit at Regen 2014 during the International Festival for Business. This key event provides an opportunity to explore the challenges facing our towns and cities as they continue to develop, increasingly looking to their citizens to play an ever greater role in driving regional and national growth. Regen 2014 is the perfect place for the civic movement to be represented to showcase its work with public and private sector partners. Regen 2014 brings together key industry leaders who lend their expertise, share their knowledge and best practice around the issues facing our towns and cities.”

Griff Rhys Jones, Civic Voice President said “The need for a vibrant civic society movement is greater than ever. Regen2014 is just the type of event where we can demonstrate to private and public sector representatives that the civic society movement is a key partner in helping to deliver high quality development in our cities, towns and villages. With the right support we can build a movement to support and champion community action for local places that is stronger than ever. It is only right that we are represented at this event. We look forward to talking with partners about joint initiatives.”

Taking place on 25 and 26 June in Liverpool, Regen 2014 will also provide an opportunity to review the 250 nationwide events of Civic Day on 21st June including Merseyside Civic Society’s Day at the Bluecoat.

We lead and support civic societies as a national movement for quality of place, with people actively improving their towns, cities and villages and promote civic pride. We speak up for civic societies and local communities across England. We believe everyone should live somewhere they can be proud of and we know how people feel about places because we feel the same way. Civic societies are the most numerous participants in the planning system. Since its launch in April 2010 Civic Voice has been joined by over 290 civic societies with 75,000 members and has established an All Party Parliamentary Group. With over 500 groups across England, civic societies play an essential role in helping individuals and communities to understand and take action to improve the quality of their life through the place where they live. Civic societies provide a focus for voluntary and community action to improve the places where people live, work and relax. They champion the importance of these places to decision makers and opinion formers in business, politics, government, the media, the voluntary sector and elsewhere.
