National Civic Day in London (June 17th)

National Civic Day, championed by Civic Voice, is an annual celebration which gives communities the chance to celebrate their local area. It takes place this Saturday (June 17th) and you still have time to submit your event via http://www.civicvoice.org.uk/campaigns/civic-day/.

Some of the highlights across London include:

- The Kew Society will be having a stall at the Kew Midsummer Fete and they will be celebrating the local area so go along to their stand and see whether you can identify locations in Kew from a display of photographs! http://kewsociety.org/events/
- During Civic Week Southgate Civic Trust will be based at 6 Station Parade, Southgate Underground Station, a vacant shop unit made available for Civic Week by Transport for London. They will also be organising be organising tours of the local conservation areas http://southgatedistrictcivictrust.org.uk/?page_id=915
- The Wimbledon Society will be presenting to the local Council a comprehensive Plan for Wimbledon Town Centre 2040, drawn up to reflect the "wishlists" of 60 local residents groups as well as the Society.
