The Gardens Trust to be subject of Tamworth talk for National Civic Day on June 17th

On Sunday, 18th June 2017, The Tamworth and District Civic Society (TDCS) is holding a Lunch at Drayton Manor with a Talk about the work of The Gardens Trust - the national charity for researching and conserving designed landscapes - by its Vice-President, The Honourable Robert Peel. There is an optional walk afterwards (subject to weather) around the grounds. A Poster and Booking Form are attached for your interest.

The Lunch is 12.00 for 12.30 p.m. in the Hamilton Suite. We have a two course meal with tea/coffee, at £20 each for non-members of TDCS.

Our guest speaker, Robert Peel, is a noted garden historian, and Drayton Manor was home to his great great grandfather, Sir Robert Peel the Prime Minister. The grounds were designed by William Gilpin, and impressive trees from those days remain.

This event is TDCS's contribution to the annual Civic Day, when communities are encouraged to celebrate and promote their localities. With that in mind, some TDCS members who are also in other community groups will have displays or information around the room to help promote those groups and to provide added interest for attendees before and after the meal and Talk.

Please join us to help celebrate Civic Day. Please ensure your ticket applications are received by Monday 12th June at the very latest.
