Budgetary responsibilities: none

Hours: a minimum of 7 hours per week.
Hours and time commitment to be decided with the different candidates.

Purpose of the role

We are seeking to recruit volunteers to help us build our membership numbers to help us maximise and diversify our income streams. You will be expected to work with our team to approach individuals, community groups and businesses to join Civic Voice. This will involve enthusing and informing a wide range of individuals, partners and stakeholders at all levels about our work and how they can help us.

Civic Voice Vision and mission

Civic Voice works to create more attractive, distinctive and enjoyable places for people across England. We do this through creating innovative projects which inspire people to connect with the local built environment. We inspire people to get active in their community and provide opportunities for people to demonstrate civic pride.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the delivery of fundraising plans and activities.
  • Research, identify and deliver a programme of innovative and successful community fundraising activities that would form our strategy, including individuals, events, corporate and volunteers.
  • Develop and deliver in partnership an Individual Giving fundraising plan.
  • Contribute to and deliver against annual budgets, targets and plans.
  • Ensure that campaigns, local fundraising events, activities and initiatives run effectively and are well planned, marketed and supported.
  • Work with colleagues in Marketing, Communications and Development to ensure that nationally and regionally managed campaigns and activities are marketed and supported locally.
  • Attend fundraising activities and events.
  • Ensure that accurate and up to date financial and supporter records are maintained and accessible.
  • Provide reports and information about activity, performance, supporters and volunteers as necessary and upon request.



Putting the supporter first:

  • Work with local groups and supporters in ways that encourage and support people to fundraise for Civic Voice
  • Provide and facilitate supporters with a choice of how they fundraise and work with Civic Voice.
  • Respond to enquiries from the public, volunteers, fundraisers (by phone, mail and in person) including responding to requests for information and material.
  • Give talks and presentations to local organisations i.e. civic groups, Rotary Clubs, WI’s, etc. to increase awareness of and support for Civic Voice activities.

Finance and Procurement

  • Track income and expenditure on fundraising activities using Civic Voice financial systems.
  • Track fundraising progress against targets.
  • Work with the Treasurer and Executive Director to compile progress reports on income generation.

Communications

  • Establish links with communities, other voluntary and statutory bodies and raise awareness of our work.
  • Liaise with the PR and Communications Team to develop communication plans and maximise the profile of fundraising activities.
  • Communicate effectively through social media channels to recruit, promote and fundraise and maximise opportunities for promotion and income generation.
  • Ensure the organisation is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders and communities.

Administration

  • Liaise with Finance and the Office Manager to ensure adherence to office procedures and systems.
  • Work with the Finance and Office Manager to ensure effective use of databases to maintain centralised records of donors and to ensure that all relationships are noted and maximised through the database.
  • Update databases as appropriate and contribute information to monthly progress reports.


Specific skill, abilities and Qualities

  • Ability to engage and motivate people to support and participate in our work.
  • Good understanding of the principles of fundraising.
  • Excellent written, presentational and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled social media communicator.
  • Excellent planning, time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure; a self-starter able to meet targets and deal with a wide range of complex tasks simultaneously.
